FanART - Disney Pocahontas

Whew.. Finally I got some time around to finish off this one.

What can I say about Pocahontas? Well I guess I can say that she used to be my least favorite heroine cause I thought she looked ugly.. Seeing the film again.. Man!! She's pretty!!

What was I thinking?

So.. Works been busy.. Kinda hectic.. But here I am actually managing to finish off another Disney Princess.. (Why is Pocahontas a 'Princess' anyways? I suppose if she's the chieftain's daughter... Hmmm..)

I have to say the 'Disney craze system' has been wearing down, so I'm not as Disney obsessed as I used to be hehe..

I AM though back where I started.. Wanting to make things happen and not patient enough..

I recently got into a manga named 'Bakuman' drawn by the same artist who drew Death Note (Takeshi Obata).

I have to say the guy is a monster! Such skill and style! The story is about making manga.. And the team does a really good job explaining the process without sounding boring.. And add some drama into that.. I love it!

So I have to say I've actually been tempted to do my own attempt of my stories.. We'll see... We'll seeeeeeee....

Too many promises and no results.. I'm almost there becoming a politician! :P

Looks solid, but is it me or is something up with her scalp/hair line area? maybe i'm seeing things...
manga eh? i've read up to the most recent Soul eater ( some nice cartoony work ) but i'm not a fan of the character designs.
i had a look across the one you mentioned too, not bad...nothing interesting in design i think but i haven't read the story so i can't comment, although i never overly liked death note too much, it felt a little too emo for me.

didn't you do a comic with a korean friend of yours all those years ago? i'd like to see something funny and simple like that again.

and pocahontas was one of the more "serious" disney films and yet it was so boring....i remember thinking that even as a kid...thank god for the comic relief from the animal side kicks lol

Louis - Thanks man, you da man! :P

Dan - Yeah.. Death Note had an emo vibe in terms of design which I didn't mind much. And there was alot of serious things going on so it was quite intense.

But what turned me off was too much explaining about the rules and exploiting the rules which felt kinda cheap to me.

I still read till the end though hehe..

Bakuman is a very different style of story. It's about aspiring manga artists making manga. And the cool part is that they actually show you how the real thing is made.. And there seems to be some poking fun at themselves as well.. Of course the story is very dramatic so that the readers won't bore themselves. I recommend it. It made my comic soul burning.. Heh..

Justine - Thanks Justine :)
I'll try and get to her sometime..Sometime.... Doh.. Here I go again!

ah deathnote...i've seen way too many cosplays of L and other characters....i never did read it but the anime was enough to put me off of it after i watched it all and you're right the explaining of rules is a cheap thing to do to take up time and animation, i think the first 10 episodes were the best ( great cat and mouse thing going on )

cool, i might give it a shot... my interest in manga is going downhill in a super speedy fashion though so we'll see

did you think that about the guard ? hmm not my intent, i wanted him to appear to be freaking out since those guys are breaking out but i might need to make a different pose to have it read more clearly
thanks though

Hmmn, it's well done. But I don't think her face looks native american. It looks more asian. I realise it's manga style or whatnot, but if you see a native person in an anime they still look native.

Though I haven't studied native facial features so I'm not sure how to rectify it.

Oh me? Yeah I thought about doing some drawings but haven't done any yet. Right now I'm trying to start work on some 3d spaceship again, though this time of my own design. We'll see if I ever finish it.

wow great stuff, I like the gentle way you handled the shadows, very subtle.

Thanks Shaun!

I think the subtle shadows worked well on the Disney characters :)

Although I'll need to tackle more dynamic shadows in the future..

The way of the shadow!
